welcome to naacp gary

The Gary, Indiana Branch of the NAACP was formed in 1916. Currently, the branch continues to support the programs and policies of the NAACP with aggressive action at the local level, with our focus on education.

Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. From the ballot box to the classroom, the thousands of dedicated workers, organizers, leaders and members who make up the NAACP continue to fight for social justice for all Americans.

Congratulations!  It is my honor to inform you that Mr. Robert L. Buggs, Sr. has been selected to receive a 2024 Golden Hoosier Award.

The annual Golden Hoosier Award is a collaboration between the Lt. Governor's office and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration's Division of Aging in partnership with AARP Indiana. This is the highest honor bestowed upon a senior citizen by the state of Indiana in recognition of helping fellow Hoosiers and bettering their Communities.
